What is the role of a MLA?

Who is a MLA? Is a MLA a privileged person or a person bound by duty towards the public?

Is it correct that the MLA enjoys so much power & authority when he is only a representative of the people? Shouldn’t MLA be more accessable? Treated more like a common man rather than a royal?

My opinion is – a MLA is more like a representative of the people who elect him to oversee the functioning of the government run by the public servants.

What do you think?

Who is a MLA?

  • Previlaged Person who rules the people (22%, 33 Votes)
  • Representative of People, Must be treated like one & not as a royalty (78%, 116 Votes)

Total Voters: 149

To Renu Kumar and the Admin,

To become a MLA or a member of the legislative assembly, a person should fulfill the following conditons:

1.He must be a citizen of India.
2.He must not be less then the age of 25
3.He must not hold any office
4.He must not posses such other qualifications as may be prescribed by the parliament of India.

Although i am not sure about what are the documents he/she should summit.Hope that the above mentions helped you.
