Voter slips distribution by Government Officials has started. Distribution has started in Chennai. The Zonal Tax Collectors are distributing the slips in Chennai. Hopefully all the voter slips will be distributed by this weekend.

Today is the 9th and I am yet to recieve my voter’s slip.
I live in the Virugambakkam constituency. There are four eligible voters in my house. Will we get our voter’s slip in a day or two. Should I go someplace to collect it. Shall appreciate a reply in my mail id.

You should have received the Voter Slip by now, most probably by tomorrow. If you live within Chennai Corporation call 1913 or call your taluk office and find out about the distribution of the voter slip. If you have the Voter ID Card, you do not necessarily need the voter slip to vote. Voter ID Card is suffice.

I,Prashanth CR have posted the application for the addition of name in the voters list and issuance of voter card according to the order from election commission of india. As per the proceedings i was waiting for the card for past one month after the verification was been done by the officials in my residential address.
Since the card was not issued till now i went to the respective poll booth(Madurai corporation school, singara thopu,Madurai. No – 71) today(10April2011) to collect my booth slip as per the instructions from the election commission.After passing a long hurdles with them regarding in making them understand that my voting poll booth was that.But it went to a failure as my name was not included in the voters list.i am really disgraceful for the process taking over and the people(persons who are responsible for the duty) who respond to the public in an uncivilized manner.To make clear of the mistake i approached to the Madurai corporation-East where again i did not receive a proper answer. Since my name is not there in the voters list, does it mean that there is not a person like that(who s writing this complaint)?.
So i request you to advise me on the proceedings to get enrolled in the voters list and receive the Right to Vote.

Sir, If you have preserved the acknowledgement of your application, You can file a complaint with the local authorities or the Election Commission or even file a RTI application asking for the status of your application. But given the timelines you will not be able to vote in the elections on 13th. If you keep following up you may get your Voter ID before the Local Body Elections
